Beginning with a relaxing overnight stay in Arusha, you’ll acclimate to the altitude before setting out on the four-day ascent of Mount Meru. Known as the “Little Brother” of Kilimanjaro, Mount Meru offers a challenging yet rewarding climb with stunning vistas and diverse habitats. Over the course of four days, you’ll traverse through lush forests, rocky terrain, and alpine deserts, culminating in a triumphant summit bid. Day 1: Arrival in Arusha
Upon arrival at Kilimanjaro International Airport, you’ll be warmly welcomed by our team and transferred to your accommodation in Arusha. For budget-conscious travelers, we recommend the Outpost Lodge; for midrange, the Arusha Planet Lodge; and for luxury seekers, the Arusha Coffee Lodge. Enjoy a relaxing evening, preparing for the adventure ahead. Overnight stay with dinner included.
Day 2: Arusha to Momella Gate (Altitude: 1,500m) to Miriakamba Hut (Altitude: 2,514m)
After breakfast, embark on a scenic drive to Momella Gate, the starting point of the Mount Meru trek. Complete registration formalities before beginning your ascent through lush montane forests. Cover approximately 10 km in 4-5 hours, ascending to Miriakamba Hut. Dinner and overnight stay at Miriakamba Hut. Meal Plan: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner.
Day 3: Miriakamba Hut to Saddle Hut (Altitude: 3,570m)
Continue your ascent through the montane forest, with the trail gradually becoming steeper as you approach the saddle. Cover approximately 5 km in 3-4 hours, enjoying panoramic views of the surrounding landscape. Dinner and overnight stay at Saddle Hut. Meal Plan: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner.
Day 4: Saddle Hut to Socialist Peak (Altitude: 4,562m) to Miriakamba Hut
Rise before dawn for the summit bid, trekking to Socialist Peak, the highest point on Mount Meru. Cover approximately 5 km in 4-6 hours, navigating rocky terrain and steep slopes. Enjoy breathtaking views from the summit before descending to Miriakamba Hut for a well-deserved rest. Dinner and overnight stay at Miriakamba Hut. Meal Plan: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner.
Day 5: Miriakamba Hut to Momella Gate to Arusha
Descend through the montane forest to Momella Gate, where you’ll receive your summit certificates. Cover approximately 10 km in 2-3 hours, celebrating your achievement along the way. Transfer back to Arusha for a relaxing evening at your chosen accommodation. Overnight stay with dinner included. Meal Plan: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner.
Day 6: Departure
After breakfast, bid farewell to Arusha as you transfer to Kilimanjaro International Airport for your departure flight, marking the end of an unforgettable journey. Meal Plan: Breakfast.
